Scholarships & Benifits


Depending on the rate achieved in the Naval Sea Cadets, former cadets may be eligible to enlist in the armed forces at an advanced pay grade. Being a member honorably discharged from the Corps is looked upon favorably by selection boards for military academies and ROTC programs. Also those cadets who are accepted to a four-year university may be eligible for scholarships.

 

As of 2008, the following scholarship opportunities were avaialble to Sea Cadets...

NLUS SCHOLARSHIPS:

Four (4) Helen & Morgan Fitch Scholarship of $ 5,000 each as follows:
(One New Scholarship and Three (3) from last year’s recipients will have a renewal of their scholarships of $5,000) if they have met academic standards required for renewal).
One (1) Stockholm Scholar for $2,500. This is for a new four year scholarship

Three (3) Harry Lee & Rose Howell Scholarship as follows;
Two (2) Howell Scholarships of $2,500 each.
One (1) Howell scholarship of $2,000.

Two (2) NSCC General Scholarship as follows:
One (1) funded by the NSCC General Scholarship Fund for $2,000
One (1) funded by LCDR Gary Young, NSCC for $1,500
One (1) USS John A. Bole (DD-755) Wardroom Junior Officers (1961-1965) Scholarship for $2,000
One (1) NSCC Board of Directors Scholarship provided by Mr. Nicholas Ricco in the name of his wife, Anna, for $1,500.

 

NAVY LEAGUE FOUNDATION

In 2008, the Navy League Foundation will award the following four-year** scholarships at $2,500 per year:
John G. Brokaw Scholarship
Wesley C. Cameron Scholarship
Ann E. Clark Foundation Scholarship
CAPT Winifred Quick Collins, USN (Ret) Scholarship
Gladys Ann Smith Greater Los Angeles Women’s Council Scholarship*
Subic Bay-Cubi Point 1 Scholarship**
United Armed Forces Association Scholarship
RADM William A. Sullivan, USN (Ret) Scholarship***
*Greater LA Women’s Council Scholarship – preference is given to applicants who currently reside in state of California
**Subic Bay-Cubi Point 1 Scholarship – award is for one year only; 2008/09 school year in the amount of $2,500
***Sullivan Scholarship - preference is given to applicants who currently reside in San Diego, California.

 

The Naval Sea Cadet Corps provides its cadets the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, build their character and become productive citizens.
