EXAMPLE OF CADET ADVANCEMENT
Note: This is an example. Cadets do not have to take the same pathway, other than basic training.

Cadet enrolls in USNSCC as a E-1 (Recruit).

Cadet completes the BMR (Basic Military Requirements)

Cadet attends and completes BASIC TRAINING.

-If cadet has turned in and passed all assignments for the BMR, the cadet is promoted to E-2 (Apprentice).

Cadet attends and completes an AT(Advanced Training)

-If cadet has turned in and passed all assignments for the SEAMAN correspondence course, he is promoted to E-3 (Seaman).

Cadet attends and completes an AT(Advanced Training)

-If cadet has turned in and passed all assignments for PETTY OFFICER THIRD AND SECOND CLASS correspondence course and passes the PO3 written exam he is promoted to E-4 (Petty Officer 3rd Class).

Cadet attends and completes an AT(Advanced Training)

-If cadet has turned in and passed all assignments for PETTY OFFICER THIRD AND SECOND CLASS correspondence course and passes the PO2 written exam, he is promoted to E-5 (Petty Officer 2nd class.)

Cadet attends and completes an AT(Advanced Training)

-If cadet has turned in and passed all assignments for the PETTY OFFICER 1ST CLASS correspondence course and passes the PO1 written exam, he is promoted to E-6 (Petty Officer First Class).

Cadet attends and completes an AT(Advanced Training)

-If cadet has turned in and passed all assignments for the CHIEF PETTY OFFICER correspondence course and is successfully authorized by USNSCC National Headquarters, the cadet is promoted to E-7 (Chief Petty Officer). This is the highest cadet rank obtainable in the USNSCC.
